Major Athletics Success!
On 2nd March, a team of 12 Primary 7 athletes went to the Emirates Arena to take part in the Active Schools North East Heptathlon Final. The team consisting of 6 boys and 6 girls all completed a 60m sprint, 60m hurdles, 400m, long jump and shot putt. Then, if that wasn't enough, the final event was the 5x100m relay sprint.
10 schools took part in the NE final and Garrowhill emerged with a huge haul of multiple medal winners (as you can see by the picture)! We also won both relay shields and the overall winning school prize.
It was an amazing experience for all involved and it gave the children a chance to compete on a "proper" athletics circuit - the very same track that Mo Farah had competed on just the week before! Does Garrowhill have a future Mo Farah or Jessica Ennis-Hill...?
