Open Afternoons
As you know, we are working to improve many aspects of our practice as we settle in our new school.
A priority for us is to improve how we engage with parents on the design of our curriculum, raise awareness of the experiences your child has in school and improve how we report on our children’s progress.
While formal written reports are useful and necessary, often the best way to capture your child’s progress is to take a close look at the evidence of learning they have in jotters and on display in school and have a talk to them about their learning, their successes and the things they want to work on to improve.
With this in mind we will not be sending home a written interim report this month but would like to invite you to visit your child in class and, with your child, review their work and progress. During your visit you will have a chance to talk to your child and record your views and your child’s view on how they are progressing in your child’s jotter. You will also be able to view the teacher’s plans for the coming weeks and have a look around the classroom.
We understand that for working parents day time visits to school may not be possible. If you are unable to visit at this time, we will send your child’s work home on the Friday following the class event and would ask that you complete the form in your child’s jotter where you and your child are asked for your views on the learning and any areas for development.
Our vision is to establish a regular pattern of open events like this alongside our more formal evenings for reporting progress to you.
